History
In March 1966, Dr. Tien-Chi Chen, the Superintendent of Shun Tian General Hospital, donated funds and land to establish the school, then the school was named during the board meeting in June 1966 as Chungtai Junior College.
1966 |
The department of Medical Technology, department of Radiological Technology and department of Hospital Management running on a 5-year program were established. |
1968 |
The department of Nursing and Midwifery running on a 5-year program was established. Then, the department was renamed as the department of Nursing. |
1974 | The department of Medical Technology and department of Radiological Technology were combined as department of Medical Technology. |
1977 |
The department of Radiological Technology recruited students again. |
1981 |
The department of Dental Technology running on a 5-year program was established. It was the first department in dental technology in Taiwan. |
1988 | A 2-year program was added to the department of Nursing and the department of Hospital Management of extension program started recruiting students. |
1989 | A 2-year extension program was added to the department of Nursing. |
1991 | The department of Hospital Management running on a 2-year program and the department of Medical Technology of extension program started to recruit students. |
1992 | The department of Food Hygiene running on a 2-year program was established and then followed by its extension program in 1993. |
1994 |
A 2-year extension program was established by the department of Radiological Technology. |
1995 | The department of Child Care and Education running on a 2-year program was established. |
1998 |
The department of Management Information Systems running on a 2-year extension program was established. ChungTai Junior College was promoted to Chungtai Institute of Health Science and Technology. Hence, The department of Medical Technology, the department of Radiological Technology, the department of Hospital Management, the department of Nursing and the department of Food Hygiene were added to the Institute. Till now, the institute affairs were developed. |
1999 |
A 4-year university program was added to the department of Radiological Technology, the department of Hospital Management and the department of Nursing. |
2000 |
The department of Food Hygiene was renamed as the department of Food Science, and the department of Applied Foreign Languages of 5-year program was established. |
2001 |
The department of Child Care and Education a started 4-year university program. The department of Marketing Management started 2-year and 4-year university programs. Then, a 4-year university extension programs was added in 2002. |
2002 |
Graduate Institute of Radiological Sciences and Graduate Institute of Healthcare Administration were established and recruited students in 2003. |
2003 |
The department of Applied Foreign Languages started a 4-year university program. Graduate Institute of Nursing, Graduate Institute of Medical Engineering and Materials Science, and Graduate Institute of Medical Biotechnology were established, and recruited students in 2004. The department of Safety Health and Environmental Engineering and the department of International Business were established and recruited students in 2004. |
2005 |
Chungtai Institute of Health Science and Technology renamed as Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology with the official approval of the Ministry of Education. Graduate Institute of Food Science, Graduate Institute of Life Science and Graduate Institute of Cultural and Educational Management were added respectively and recruited students in 2006. |
2006 |
The department of Eldercare of 2-year on-the-job program was established and recruited students in 2007. |
2007 |
A doctoral program of Graduate Institute of Radiological Sciences, Graduate Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, and department of Optometry were established and recruited students in 2008. The department of Food Science renamed as the department of Food Technology. The Graduate Institute of Healthcare Administration was renamed as Graduate Institute of Healthcare Industry Administration in 2008. |
2008 |
Department of Radiological Technology was renamed as Department of Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences. Department of Dental Technology was renamed as Department of Dental Technology and Materials Science. The intensive program of Healthcare Industry Management was established. Graduate Institute of Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology and Graduate Institute of Safety and Disaster Prevention were established and recruited students in 2009. |
2009 |
The intensive program of Welfare and Healthcare Management was established. |
2010 |
The department of Hospital Management was renamed as the department of Healthcare Industry Management and combined with Graduate Institute of Healthcare Administration in 2012. |
2011 |
The department of Medical Imaging and Radiological Sciences combined with Graduate Institute of Radiological Sciences. The department of Nursing combined with Graduate Institute of Nursing. The department of Food Technology combined with Graduate Institute of Food Technology. The department of Child Care and Education was renamed as department of Childhood Education and Enterprise Management. Graduate Institute of Dental Technology and Materials Science was established and recruited students in 2014. |
2014 |
College of Humanities and Liberal Education was established. |

Master program of Long-term Healthcare was established. |
2016-2021 | CTUST had been in charge of Taiwan Folklore Museum. |
